Eric C Anderson

Statistical Geneticist

Dr. Anderson's work is focused on the application of molecular genetic technologies to ecological research and fisheries management.  He has authored software used widely in such problems as: the identification of species hybrid categories with genetic markers, genetic mixture analysis, inference of pairwise relationships, pedigree reconstruction, and estimating population abundance through close-kin mark recapture.  As a scientist with the National Marine Fisheries Service, Southwest Fisheries Science Center, Eric has been involved in genetic research on a wide range of aquatic species, from salmon and trout and rockfish, to sharks and sawfish and sea otters.  Additionally, he serves as a consulting scientist for the Bird Genoscape Project, an effort leveraging whole genome sequencing and spatial variation in genetic variation to develop genetic tools for mapping bird migration pathways.  Eric is a research associate at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Institute of Marine Sciences, and a Faculty Affiliate at Colorado State University's Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology.
