28th Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics (SISG)

After 28 years in Raleigh and Seattle, the 2024 Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics is moving to Atlanta. Georgia Institute of Technology, in partnership with Emory University and the Atlanta University Center Consortium, is proud to begin hosting the next phase of SISG, now named in the honor of founding Director Bruce Weir.
 
The SISG in Atlanta will be held May 29– June 14, 2024, starting the Wednesday after Memorial Day (everyone is invited to the Atlanta Jazz Festival in nearby Piedmont Park), with an Industry & Diversity Day on Tuesday. 

 

Session Information

Early rates extended through June 15

  • Location: Sessions will be held in-person July 10-28, 2023 at the University of Washington
  • Format: All courses will be held in person . Please note that Module 17: Forensic Genetics has been cancelled and will not be taught this year.           
  • Module length:  Each module runs two and a half days.

Statistical Genetics Symposium

You might also be interested in attending the 2023 Symposium in Statistical and Quantitative Genetics held July 14-16 at the University of Washington. This 3-day conference will complement the Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics and celebrate the career and retirement of Dr. Bruce Weir. Anyone interested in contributing an oral or poster presentation should submit the title and abstract to uwbiost@uw.edu by June 30.

Scholarships

Scholarship applications for SISG modules are now closed. Thank you to GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals for their generous support in funding scholarships for U.S. graduate students to attend SISG in 2022.
